Our advice"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p><strong>Following <em>dental implant placement,<br\/><\/em><\/strong>the site can become infected after this type of procedure.<\/p>\n\n<p>To minimize the risk of complications, we invite you to follow the following advice:<\/p>\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Do not consume any hot food or drinks for the first 24 hours after the procedure. Instead go for <em>cold to warm preparations<\/em>.<\/li><li>Avoid acidic foods such as tomatoes, vinegar, lemon, etc. for 3 to 4 days. Try to eat <em>foods that are ground or do not require too much strengt to chew.<\/em><\/li><li>Do not rinse your mouth on the day of the procedure. If you have bad taste in your mouth, <em>drink water or let it run down the sink without pressure<\/em>.<\/li><li>Smoking is strongly discouraged for the first few days after surgery. <em>Stop smoking<\/em><em>temporarily smoking or reduce its consumption to a minimum<\/em>.<\/li><li><em>Avoid physical exertion for 3 or 4 days<\/em>.<\/li><li>If you notice renewed bleeding at home, <em>bite down on a clean pad or piece of cloth for 30 minutes<\/em>. If the bleeding persists, <em>call the medical-dental center<\/em>.<\/li><li>You can start <em>rinsing with the mouthwash <\/em>(if prescribed) the <em>following day<\/em>, not before. Rinse your mouth without applying too much pressure on the affected site.<\/li><li><em>Apply Plackout gel <\/em>(if given) <em>3-4 times <\/em>a day to the area with a cotton swab or with your finger (clean) <em>for one week<\/em>.<\/li><li><em>Keep the ice pack <\/em>(if given to you) on the affected area for <em>the first 3 hours <\/em>, taking care to <em>refrigerate it regularly<\/em>. After a short while, it is no longer necessary to apply it.<\/li><li><em>Maintain hygiene <\/em>(brushing) in the affected area, cleaning must be efficient but done with care (don&#8217;t rush).<\/li><\/ul>\n<p>The primary purpose of this advice is to stabilize the bleeding and the clot that has formed, which is an essential step in the healing process.<\/p>\n\n<p>It is normal to feel pain for 2-3 days after the procedure. That is due to the healing process. From 4-5 days, thes pain should subside.<\/p>\n\n<p><em>Contact the dental office if the pain does not subside, increases or returns after a while<\/em>. A cleanup of the affected area may be necessary.<\/p>\n\n<p>When an antibiotic has been prescribed, it is essential to use it rigorously; otherwise, resistance may develop. <em>Therefore, respect the specified duration and dose.<\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>We remind you that smoking increases the risk of rejection of an implant, even long after it has been placed. We, therefore, encourage you <em>to stop smoking in the days following the procedure.<\/em> Take this opportunity to <em>quit for good! <\/em><\/p>\n\n<p>You should also know that decreasing consumption reduces the risk of rejection in the long term. <em>So cut back<\/em>; you can live without tobacco for the time being.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Following dental implant placement,the site can become infected after this type of procedure.
