Wisdom teeth extraction

The eruption of wisdom teeth (sometimes called third molars) begins in the late teens, near the age of majority. The space available for these teeth tends to be insufficient to allow their complete eruption and they remain partially (semi-included) or fully included. To avoid complications, it may be necessary to have the teeth extracted by a dental doctor.

When should wisdom teeth be extracted?

Theextraction of wisdom teeth by a dental surgeon is recommended in the following cases:

Depending on the x-ray of the jaw, tooth extraction may be considered according to the recommendations of our dental doctor. The number of teeth to be extracted, although there are four wisdom teeth, can vary from one person to another depending on the problems they may cause.

The extraction of teeth

Wisdom teeth extraction is nowadays a much less traumatic operation than in the past and has become a routine care. Indeed, thanks to strict protocols and less invasive techniques, post-operative discomfort and sensitivity after tooth extraction has been significantly reduced, as well as the risk of complications (infection, failing sutures, severe bleeding), need of compresses…) thanks to the great precautions taken, which clearly improves the comfort of the patients.

Thus, a general anesthesia is no longer necessary and the operation is performed under a simple local anesthesia by the dentist who puts the area of the operation to sleep so that the gum is spread, thus making the wisdom tooth accessible. It is then tilted out of its box by a leverage effect without even resorting to pliers or terrifying tools that one can only imagine!
